Altiris Site Monitor Solution reduces costs by letting you ensure the availability of resources on a network. Resources include computers on your local network, computers across a WAN, computers running numerous operating systems (including Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS), network printers, and network devices, such as hubs, switches, and routers. This solution lets you remotely monitor connections, ports, Web pages, and performance, and it can notify you when problems arise.

Specifically, this solution lets you monitor the following:
• Connectivity
You can ping resources to ensure that they are available and respond in a timely manner.
• TCP/IP Ports
TCP/IP ports of interest on resources can be monitored for availability.
• Web Content
Web pages can be checked for availability and content to ensure that Web pages are available and the appropriate content is on the page.
• Performance
High-level computer performance can be monitored to ensure that Windows computers are performing properly.

Note: For maximum resource monitoring, we recommend using Site Monitor Solution along with Altiris Monitor Solution. Site Monitor Solution uses an agent to monitor network resources from a monitoring computer. Monitor Solution monitors servers from the actual server, including shares, ports, and logs. Monitor Solution also provides more detailed performance information. Each solution monitors different aspects of a computer or network resource.
