When you receive your Garmin iQue M4 Pocket PC you will have to install the Companion DVD that comes with the Garmin iQue M4 onto a laptop or desktop computer which you intend to use along side the handheld device. By installing the Companion DVD you will complete the following:
1. Loading Active Sync onto your laptop or desktop computer. Active Sync allows you to transfer maps, data, and files from your computer to your handheld device.
2. Loading Map Source Version 7 onto your computer. With the maps installed onto your computer you can successfully download waypoints, tracks, routes, etc from you handheld device and show them onto your computer allowing you to print and send information. To unlock the maps that are located on the Companion DVD you will need the 25-character unlock code and 7-character Registration code that is on a golden colored piece of paper located inside the box.
NOTE: Do not throw out this piece of paper as it is needed to re-register the product if at any time you change computers.
3. Registering your Garmin iQue M4 Pocket PC with Garmin. This is very important as Garmin needs to know who you are in case a problem occurs with the M4 and you need to talk with Technical Support or send the unit in for repairs.
