LeoToGo User Guide v0.91
LeoToGo is a small and simple Java application for mobile phones that sends queries to the popular online dictionary Leo [1] and displays the respective results. The main motivation to write such an application was that I got a new phone and simply wanted to get an impression on how advanced the Nokia tooling is today. The last time I designed Java applications for mobile phones is now quite some time ago – back in the glory days of mobile business start-ups.
The actual trigger for choosing Leo as a use case for my mobile application was the limited vocabulary of Nokia’s built-in offline dictionary. However, a Leo-based online dictionary – together with a relatively smart and flexible screen-flow – brings the unleashed power of one of the leading English dictionaries [2] on your mobile phone.
In the following, section 2 describes the basic handling principles of the application; section 3 covers the installation of the application on the mobile device; section 4 identifies the limitations of the current version; section 5 gives an outlook on potential improvements to be included in future versions, and last but not least; section 6 provides a list of annotated references.
The references also include the tools used for building, testing, and deploying the application. For a deeper look behind the scenes, however, refer to [3].
