Nokia Mobile Entertainment Service Developers Guide
The Nokia Mobile Entertainment Service was created to realize the concept of a commercially oriented wireless networked game service. In its first instance, the product supports rapid development and hosting of WAP based games that are accessed through a Game Portal. Over time, the platform will be extended to support the development and delivery of a wide range of technologies capable of supporting wireless game play on mobile terminals. When looking at the big picture, you can visualize the delivery of multimedia entertainment content with sound, video, and animation to wireless terminals. The provision of high bandwidth networks such as GPRS and 3G, and the new generation of mobile terminals, will stimulate consumer demand for such services.
The following section illustrates the game portal as it looks today, not what it promises tomorrow.
The Game Portal
The game portal is an integrated environment in which game services execute at runtime, and through which game players interact with game services. The portal allows game services to be installed as game cartridges. The portal also embodies the functionality in which game services can be customized to the requirements of a game service operator.
