Rule # 1 – Garbage in, garbage out. Try to pick the best quality pictures.
Rule # 2 – When you work with dark pictures, the trick is to balance lightening with proper contrast. You don’t want washed-out pictures.
Rule # 3 – If you know a picture will be printed in B/W (and the original is in color):
- Select “Grayscale” from the “Mode” menu.
- This will convert a color picture to B/W.
- Your printer will appreciate this!
Rule # 4 – If your picture will be printed in COLOR:
- Select “CMYK Color” from the “Mode” menu.
- Do not use RGB Color mode. CMYK is a more advanced color format
Rule # 5 – Select “Adjustments” from the “Image” menu.
At this point you have three picture improvement options:
- Levels
- Curves
- Brightness/Contrast
