A. Place a piece of masking tape on the edge of the hood and the edge of the fender as shown to the right. This will be used to mark the centerlines of both the hood brackets and fender brackets.
B. Hook the tape measure over lower corner of hood – be sure to measure from the hood corner (above hinge). Place a mark at exactly 10-3/4″ on the fender tape, and 22-1/2″ on the hood tape (see table below for model years). Mark both sides the same way and verifies your measurement. This is what we’re starting with; a bone stock engine bay. The first step is to disconnect the negative battery cable. This will help to prevent any potential electrical problems, and also will “reset” the PCM so that the computer will be able to “re-learn” the engine with the new intake in place. To disconnect the battery cable, you will need a 10mm socket or wrench. (Note that this may erase your radio station presets, so you might want to write them down first, just in case.)
