EON FastView ArchiCAD Add-On

Although 3D animations offer a number of benefits, they are time-consuming, thus costly; and require expert knowledge to achieve results required. With the use of EON FastView, the non-animation expert can achieve interactive walkthroughs and design reviews within minutes, saving time and cost and offering a more flexible design tool due to its interactive nature. Once the design alternatives are ready to be reviewed or presented, the 3D content can be shared over the Internet or incorporated in a multimedia presentation using pre-designed templates.

Creating animated medical images (Part 2)

There is a lot of software, both free as well as commercial, to create animated GIFs. The majority of software available is shareware, where a user may download a trial version for free prior to purchasing [2]. According to Download.com, the two most popular software for creating GIF animation are Ulead® GIF Animator TM (Ulead Systems Inc., Torrance, CA, USA) and CoffeeCup GIF Animator (CoffeeCup Software Inc., Corpus Christi, TX, USA) [3]. Both have received high rating from reviewers and users.

Cross-Examination Tips for Computer Forensic Examiners

What sets a forensic examination apart from any other exploration and reporting of the contents of a computer system is the prospect of presenting those findings in court under oath. Every step we take as forensic examiners, from acquisition to disposition, may someday need to be explained on direct examination and defended on cross-examination. Cross-examination…the part of the trial where the other side’s lawyer publicly attacks you, challenges your integrity and pounces on your every innocent slip of the tongue. In the movies and on television, just a few salvos of cross-examination invariably reveal the witness as a liar or a buffoon. No wonder cross-examination is the part of the trial that makes so many expert witnesses sweat!

Learn to Design an Adobe Flash web page header

Adobe® Flash® is the most popular way to add animation and interactivity to web pages. When you work on a flash project, the source file that you save is a .fla. When you want to see how your project will look on a web page, you will ‘publish’ the file as an .swf file which is embedded into a .html file. An ‘object’ tag which contains the parameters for the flash ‘movie’ can be embedded into an html file with Dreamweaver® or using the Flash application itself. This lesson will be for the Windows operating system (Sorry Mac Users). So let us go through the process, step by step… Here are the images that I will work with. They’ve been created in Photoshop (see my web design tutorial). Note that most of them have transparent edges. To create this effect (In Photoshop), select and copy each element from a layer of the design and paste into a new canvas. Make sure that the background layer is turned off. Save as a .png file and select Interlace:None from the PNG Options.

Graphics: Navigation design Tutorial

These days there are almost no limits to what you can do with web graphics. The ubiquitous use of Flash has transformed the internet and today, web designers have to be half graphic designer and half multi-media expert. Of course, most web sites are still predominantly HTML based because they are easier to content manage. Flash is normally reserved for small animations within the page or for online advertising. Only specialist or niche sites tend to be completely created using Flash. This means that old web design favourites, such as animated GIFs, should still be around for a while yet. With this in mind, we have incorporated them into this month’s navigation design tutorial. We hope to demonstrate how distinctive design, coupled with simple animation, can turn the most basic navigation bar into something special.

Porting Oracle Applications to PostgreSQL

This presentation was written by a PostgreSQL expert, not an Oracle expert. Both Oracle and PostgreSQL are diverse, complex, and moving targets. Both Oracle and PostgreSQL are (probably) Turing-complete, so almost anything is “possible”, but we are looking for reasonable options.

Porting projects are hard. Compatibility and compatibility layers are an illusion. It might be better not to do it. But success can be very rewarding.
