For the operating method and precautions for the Super Airflow Converter, refer to the Instruction Manual. When installing the Super Airflow Converter, both this document and the Instruction Manual are required. Even if the car model and manufacturing year coincide with the contents described in this document, this product may not be installed in certain specification vehicles or remodeled vehicles. This is what we’re starting with; a bone stock engine bay. The first step is to disconnect the negative battery cable. This will help to prevent any potential electrical problems, and also will “reset” the PCM so that the computer will be able to “re-learn” the engine with the new intake in place. To disconnect the battery cable, you will need a 10mm socket or wrench. (Note that this may erase your radio station presets, so you might want to write them down first, just in case.)

If you are attempting to install a 1990-1993 steering wheel in a 1987-1989 car, then the steering column must also be changed. All
connections will hook up in the steering column except for the harness from the steering wheel, which provides the horn and cruise control signal. The windshield wipers will not work if the 1990-1993 switch is used on the 1987-1989 harness. Testing with a multimeter will show you the wires that Ford chose to move when the design of the switch changes. All controls have the same wiring except the windshield wipers. After the correct wires are determined, it is an easy task to remove the wires from the plug by pressing down on the tab on the front of the plug and sliding the wire out the back. Then, the wire can be inserted into the previously unused connection hole on the plug.

Attaching the filter mount
1. Survey the engine compartment for possible mounting locations. Solid structures such as the firewall, fender well, radiator support or frame are normal locations. (Do not mount on engine.) Refer to diagram B for minimum area requirements and consider accessibility for servicing.
