2. Within the layers window, double click on the background layer to turn it into a regular working layer.

Giving an apple a new face – Adobe Photoshop CS2 Tutorial

1. First open up the photo of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a new document in Photoshop. Then convert the background into a new layer by double-clicking the layer. Leave the options as they are and hit ‘OK’
2. Now we’ll add a layer mask. Go to Layer  Layer Mask  Reveal All. You should see a white box appear to the left of the “Layer 0” layer, followed by an icon of a lock.
3. Here’s comes the time consuming part. Grab your ‘Eraser Tool’ (shortcut: E) and erase the unnecessary background so that only Obi-Wan’s face remains.
