In fact the Ford Focus makes you question what is a small car these days? In a practical departure from most new cars the glove box can take a full size street directory and have room left over. This makes up for the narrow front door pockets and small centre armrest compartment. While there aren’t any rear door pockets, small moulded trays next to the seat look after your knick knacks. Large and heavy, the rear hatch opens quite high, in fact you need to be a bit careful with it. Once open it can require a bit of muscle to get back down.

If you are attempting to install a 1990-1993 steering wheel in a 1987-1989 car, then the steering column must also be changed. All
connections will hook up in the steering column except for the harness from the steering wheel, which provides the horn and cruise control signal. The windshield wipers will not work if the 1990-1993 switch is used on the 1987-1989 harness. Testing with a multimeter will show you the wires that Ford chose to move when the design of the switch changes. All controls have the same wiring except the windshield wipers. After the correct wires are determined, it is an easy task to remove the wires from the plug by pressing down on the tab on the front of the plug and sliding the wire out the back. Then, the wire can be inserted into the previously unused connection hole on the plug.

Remove the attached body, if applicable. Remember to disconnect all electrical connections to the body, and fuel filler tube, before removing the body. The installation can also be completed using a lift to raise the vehicle. If using a lift, chassis body removal may not be necessary but removal of rear wheels will aid in installation.

ACCEL recommends using a 180 degree thermostat in most applications. Place your thermostat and gasket onto your manifold, put your thermostat housing onto the manifold and bolt in place. When installing your fuel injectors, be careful not to cut the O-Rings. A small amount of oil on each O-Ring will aid in the assembly. Please reference a service manual for proper torque sequence and vacuum line routing.
