How to Draw Structures for Accurate NMR Predictions

How to Draw Structures for Accurate NMR PredictionsTechnical Note How to Draw Structures for Accurate NMR Predictions Version 10 Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc. Toronto, ON, Canada www.acdlabs.com Introduction These rules were developed to conform with the algorithmic requirements of ACD/Labs prediction software 1 (ACD/CNMR, ACD/HNMR, ACD/FNMR, ACD/NNMR, ACD/PNMR, and ACD/2D NMR Predictor). General requirements: 1. ACD/Labs software predicts the spectrum of the actual structure you have drawn. It does not take into account the formation of complexes and salts (intramolecular, with the solvent or in case of

Performance Characterization in Computer Vision A Tutorial

The discipline variously known as Computer Vision, Machine Vision and Image Analysis has its origins in the early artificial intelligence research of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Hence, roughly two generations of researchers have pitted their wits against the problem. The pioneers of the first generation worked with computers that were barely capable of handling image data — processing had to be done line-by-line from backing store — and programs almost always had to be run as batch jobs, ruling out any form of interaction. Even capturing digital images was an impressive feat. Under such difficult conditions, the techniques that were developed were inevitably based on the mathematics of image formation and exploited the values of pixels in neighbouring regions. Implementing them was a non-trivial task, so much so that pretty well any result was an impressive achievement.

VLT Laser Guide Star Monitor facility: a feasibility study

The sodium layer considered here is situated in the mesosphere at 91.5±10 km and has a mean column density of 3×10 9 cm – 2 , value that is strongly latitude dependent. However this layer ‘suffers’ from seasonal, daily and short-term variations. The seasonal variations are ‘sinusoidal’ and affect the sodium column density, the average centroid position of the layer and its thickness (see e.g. 1 Papen et al. 1996).

Community detection in complex networks using Extremal Optimization

We propose a novel method to flnd the community structure in complex networks based on an extremal optimization of the value of modularity. The method outperforms the optimal modularity found by the existing algorithms in the literature giving a better understanding of the community structure. We present the results of the algorithm for computer simulated and real networks and compare them with other approaches. The e–ciency and accuracy of the method make it feasible to be used for the accurate identiflcation of community structure in large complex networks. PACS

Multi-Level Graph Layout on the GPU

This paper presents a new algorithm for force directed graph layout on the GPU. The algorithm, whose goal is to compute layouts accurately and quickly, has two contributions. The rst contribution is proposing a general multi-level scheme, which is based on spectral partitioning. The second contribution is computing the layout on the GPU. Since the GPU requires a data parallel programming model, the challenge is devising a mapping of a naturally unstructured graph into a well-partitioned structured one. This is done by computing a balanced partitioning of a general graph. This algorithm provides a general multi-level scheme, which has the potential to be used not
