Fast Fourier Transforms in Mathematica

This tutorial demonstrates how to perform a fast Fourier transform in Mathematica. The example used is the Fourier transform of a Gaussian optical pulse. First, define some parameters. Note that all wavelength values are in nm and all time is in fs. Thus the speed of light c is 300 nm/fs and all frequencies w is thus represented in radians/fs. The fundamental wavelength in interest, lo, is 800 nm with its corresponding frequency wo. For all values the unit for time will be femtosecond, the unit of length nanometers, and the unit for power is Watts.

Rear Speaker Upgrade (for the Megane II 5door hatch)

After having replaced the front speakers with the Pioneer TS-131Q, I felt that the rear needed replacing as they are not up to par the aforementioned Pioneers. My choice came down to the Pioneer E-Motion TS-E1376 or TS-E1396, the latter ones being 3-way, having higher frequency response and being more powerful (check these links TS-E1376 and TS-E1396). I was lucky to track them down (through ebay) at a German e–shop, www.caraudio24.de, paid 82 euros (including shipping and Paypal surcharges) and the package arrived in a little more than two weeks. Below are the box contents, 2 speakers, 2 grills, screws and cabling. No instructions however, as these are speakers for universal fitting. Just have a look at them side by side with the OE Renault rear speakers. Absolutely no comments on the magnet size!

Performance statistics and their associated stored procedure operations constitute the largest and the most resource‐intensive component of the VirtualCenter database. Hence the performance of your VirtualCenter database depends upon the frequency at which you collect performance statistics and the level of detail of the statistics you store. VirtualCenter 2.5 features a number of enhancements that are aimed at greatly improving the performance and scalability of the performance statistics operations in the VirtualCenter database.

Alfa Romeo 156 Brake Replacement Guide

The procedure below was written up for a 1998 2.0 Twinspark with vented front discs but should be the same for all 156 models. The shape of the pads will differ between vented and solid discs at the front. Later models have larger rear discs and therefore different pads. It should not matter if we are talking standard brakes with normal or drilled/grooved discs with high-speed road pads – the process is the same. The only difference is that some front pads don’t have the wear indicator so you will need to tie the cable back out of the way if not required.
