Most 18” wheels will clear the outer diameter of the caliper on a 355mm kit. However, the more critical clearance is the gap between the spokes of the wheel and the face of the caliper. Do not assume that a 19”, 20” or even 24” wheel will clear the face of the caliper. The actual metal-to-metal distance measured from the stock rotor face to the inside of the wheel spokes is 62.25mm for the BMW X5 front kit. StopTech recommends at least 2mm of additional clearance. Installing
- Pull clutch pedal into passenger compartment.
- Insert over-center spring into rear mounting first (arrow B), then operate clutch pedal until the retaining clamp seats on the mounting lug of the clutch pedal (arrow A).
- Take out retaining clamp while bringing clutch pedal to rest position.

Most 17” wheels will clear the outer diameter of the caliper. Wheel weights mounted on the inside of the wheel may need to be repositioned. The more critical clearance is the spokes of the wheel to the outer face of the caliper. Do not assume an 18, 19 or even 20 inch wheel will clear the outer face of the caliper. A minimum distance of 60.81mm, measured from the outer rotor face to the inside face of the wheel spokes. This is the net metal-to-metal measurement. We recommend at least 2mm additional clearance to clear the ST-40 caliper on our big brake kits. Please refer to the Wheel Fitment section of our website to confirm any wheel fitment issues.

1. Removal of the original bumper:
Remove all screws which hold the bumper. Also remove the screws which hold the alloy bar and remove the bumper with the alloy bar. Remove the alloy bar from the bumper and install it into the new Hofele-Design bumper.
2. Placement of the Hofele-Design front bumper on the car:
Place the new bumper on the car but do not yet bolt it on.
