Doing Good or Doing Well? Image Motivation and Monetary Incentives

Doing Good or Doing Well? Image Motivation and Monetary Incentives ...No. 07‐9 Doing Good or Doing Well? Image Motivation and Monetary Incentives in Behaving Prosocially Dan Ariely, Anat Bracha, and Stephan Meier Abstract: This paper examines image motivation—the desire to be liked and well‐regarded by others— as a driver in prosocial behavior (doing good), and asks whether extrinsic monetary incentives (doing well) have a detrimental effect on prosocial behavior due to crowding out of image motivation. By definition, image depends on one’s behavior being visible to other people. Using this

Photography Blend Style—Large Horizontal Image

Photography on top level pages of the site incorporates one of two blend styles at the bottom of the image area. The blend styles create a softer appearance and convey a visually more open, less blocky impression to reflect the open-minded, inclusive and welcoming Hamline spirit.

Use of either blend style on other photos throughout the site is optional. The style should be used freely to convey openness and warmth, but with judgment about whether it is appropriate to the nature of an image or the overall effect of a page layout. In the example images on this page, the screen bar style may be considered a better choice than the gradation fade style because the book in the photo is more visible.

Creating Figures: A Basic Recipe for Image Composites Using Photoshop and PowerPoint

Photoshop vs. PowerPoint: Which one should I use?
Photoshop and PowerPoint are both very flexible applications-each is capable of performing raster image manipulation as well as text and vector editing with varying degrees of success, reliability and ease. While Photoshop is the choice for making adjustments to your raster image’s file format, resolution, size, contrast, color balance, alignment and to crop or merge images together (image editing), PowerPoint is preferred for creating figures and doing image compositing and annotation because the text and vector based annotation will remain sharp. This is not the case for these vector-based elements in Photoshop- there is a loss in quality of text and vector objects when changing file formats to non-proprietary, pixel-based formats.

How to Make Basic Image Adjustments using Photoshop CS2

Getting Around in Photoshop
Color Management Color management standards let you move image files between computers and applications, or from camera, to monitor, to printer, with relative color consistency.

The system works by embedding a “color profile” into to an image file that specifies what color space is in use. When the file is opened in Photoshop, if the working space for Photoshop is set for a different colorspace than specified in a file’s color profile, Photoshop may be set to give an alert, or to “preserve” the embedded profile to maintain the appearance of the colors in the image.

Image formats for HDTV

For several years, European broadcasters have been making programmes in high definition – often based upon co-production deals with the USA and Japan – using the 1920 x 1080 Common Image Format. However, European consumers are currently restricted to down-converted standard-definition versions of the original full-resolution HD content. This situation will soon change as more broadcasters offer HD services – in addition to the pioneering and ground-breaking start made by Euro1080.

Video Image Processing Version 9.5 Port Monitor Guide

The Video Image Processing (VIP) system consists of two applications: VIP Capture and VIP Retrieval. The VIP Capture site obtains and stores pictures. The VIP Retrieval application is used to retrieve and view pictures that have been taken at VIP Capture sites or to view live video. VIP can also be used for enhancing, storing and printing pictures from a VCR playback. With VIP, the image is saved digitally, and the network transaction information – transaction number, institution number and address, the camera that took the picture, and the network date and time, when available – is saved with the picture.

Image Processing in Photoshop Elements 2.0 & 3.0

Please note that this is just my take on the process that I have picked up from other photographers that have helped me along the way. I have combined all their processing to come up with this step by step guide to processing your photos. Like I said it’s a guide and don’t be afraid to tweak the process a bit. This, from what I can gather is the general process that most photographers use. There are a few photographers I must thank, Eduard (IL76), Dimitris, Mick Bajcar (Dendrobatid) and Paul Markman (Psych) for all their help.

Ulead PhotoImpact 6 – Stamp Photo Manipulations

To create a unique portrait using a custom Stamp built from family photos.
Making your photo Objects:
1. Choose 6 – 10 snapshots family members. The photo you want to use as your main image object should be made from at least a 5″ X 7″, better still, an 8″ X 10″. The other objects should range from 1/2″ to 1″ in height to give your stamp some variation. Scan them into your computer or have a friend do it for you. I sometimes use a digital camera or have a digital version made when my film is processed at my local Photo Center.
