This is what we’re starting with; a bone stock engine bay. The first step is to disconnect the negative battery cable. This will help to prevent any potential electrical problems, and also will “reset” the PCM so that the computer will be able to “re-learn” the engine with the new intake in place. To disconnect the battery cable, you will need a 10mm socket or wrench. (Note that this may erase your radio station presets, so you might want to write them down first, just in case.)

Monitor Installation Steps

How to determine what type of brake calipers and ABS sytem is fitted. During development of the cruise control for the R1150GS we have been aware that there are two different types of front brake caliper and two different ABS systems fitted to this model, and some bikes without ABS. In order to supply the correct kit for the bike, we need to know what type of front brake calipers your bike has, and what ABS system (if any) the bike has. Installation
1. Begin by removing the battery, battery tray and fuse box.
2. Locate and remove the factory ECU under the passenger side dash.
3. Remove the factory engine harness from the engine bay and under the dash. There will be 2 10mm bolts under the battery tray holding the harness in place. Remove this plate/grommet to reuse with your K series engine harness.

COMPRESSOR CLUTCH CONTROL
Evaporator Temperature Switch
Although compressor clutch does not normally cycle on and off, an evaporator temperature switch turns off the compressor clutch if evaporator temperature decreases to 32øF (0øC). This prevents evaporator icing.

A/C Pressure Switch
A/C pressure switch is a triple-pressure switch, which monitors high side pressure. See Fig. 1. If pressure decreases to less than 17.4 psi (1.2 kg/cmý), A/C pressure switch interrupts power to compressor clutch (low-pressure cutout). Switch closes when pressure increases to more than 34.8 psi (2.4 kg/cmý).

Planning the Alarm Install
Your plan will be the difference between a finished product and a job left for next winter. A few minutes of planning and prepping will yield at least an hour and a half less install time. Itʼs not fun, but it needs to be done! Begin by studying your vehicle specific diagram side by side with your bike alarm installation diagram. Identify which features you plan to use on the alarm, not all features are necessary. (e.g., remote starting)

• Place the bike on the center stand and remove the current shock absorber.
• Place the Hyperpro shock in the bike, type 461 with reservoir as shown in the picture. If your shock is equipped with the optional hydraulic preload adjuster place the banjo bolt of the HPA to the right side of the bike.

R1150GS, 2001. Once you remove the various plastic covers from an R, RT or
RS, the procedures should essentially be identical to those given here.
Section II – by Various Authors Generally, this section contains more detailed instructions than those found in Section I, especially Stephen Karlan’s very detailed write-ups. This section also contains procedures that are not part of the normal maintenance schedule.
