The following is intended as an introduction to Paint.Net and an explanation of how to use the main tools. It is not meant as a guide to fixing images, because I am still very much a beginner in this area. More information can be obtained from the material in the Help file, and the tutorials and helpful hints in the on-line Forum. Those of you, who have already done some editing with Photoshop or other imaging programs, will find it much easier than those just starting out. If you don’t want to do any more than a slight tweaking, straightening and cropping of your photos then a program like Picasa is probably all you really need. If you want more control over the results, you need an imaging and photo manipulation program like Paint.Net.

This is a 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. This car is in overall good condition! The car drives good with plenty of power and a smooth shifting transmission. It’s fuel injected with no driveability issues. It has the Original Paint and came out of Arizona. The top is in good condition, the paint looks good and the windshield is in good condition. The interior is black leather with the seats and carpets in good condition. The only flaws I noticed are: there’s a dent in the drivers side door (see pictures), the plastichousing around the fuel door & trunk release leversare broken (also shown in pictures) and there are a few chips in the paint. Recenctly somebody bumped the drivers mirror so the black trim is missing that is behind the actual glass mirror part. This car is a driver. I’ve tried to take pictures of the chips. Bring a focus point to your photographs by making them black and white and highlighting one area by colorizing it.

Step 1: Open your original picture in Photoshop and add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer to it from your Layer pull-down menu (Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation).
Step 2: Give the Layer a Name and choose OK.
Step 3: Move your sliders for Hue & Saturation all the way to the left so that -180 shows up in the Hue box and -100 shows up in the Saturation box and press OK.

Look under the bonnet, between the strut tops and the windscreen – there should be a black triangularish piece of foam (one each side). Lift it out and look underneath for rust. Also check the drainage channels aren’t blocked. Paint chips badly, so check the leading edge of the bonnet carefully. The valence might look tatty, but its plastic so won’t rust. Drop the front windows fully, then raise them again, making sure the glass stays in the channel. They can (and do) tilt slightly, which causes the glass to come out of the channel and either not close properly at the top, or fail to go up all the way. They can be adjusted so its not the end of the world. A typical issue of the Alfa Romeo 145 is dried up doorrubbers. Dried up doorrubbers causes windnoises and even can damage your paint. They can be replaced easily. Check all the electric’s work (it is an Alfa!) and especially the airco if fitted (an option?). Trembling heatshields (exhaust) can be spotted on Alfa Romeo’s 145. They can be fixated easily.
