Fuel and exhaust systems – K-Jetronic fuel injection – 16 valve engines

The components of the K-Jetronic fuel injection system fitted to the 1.8 litre 16V engine are as shown (see illustrations). All procedures are the same as described in Part B of this Chapter except for those given in the following Sections.

Installing and checking expansion valve insulator
1. Insulator
2. Expansion valve
Insulation is used around expansion valve to prevent moisture (condensation) build-up and to protect expansion valve from high engine compartment temperatures and the resulting decrease in A/C system cooling performance.
Install insulator – 1 – over expansion valve – 2 – (arrow).
Check insulator for damage and proper fit, and replace if necessary.

Disassembly 1. Remove line actuator cover bolts. See Fig. 53 . Carefully remove cover and connector plate. Remove line actuators by twisting line actuator as it is pulled from valve body. 2. Remove through bolts. Separate valve body and separator plate. Remove check balls. See Fig. 54 . Remove manual valve. Remove each valve assembly. Retain in proper order for reassembly. Compact Heat Pump Operating Instructions
Prior to use : -
1 Turn off the power supply at the local isolator
2 Open the door, using a coin or similar tool to unlock it
3 Check that the ground pressure gauge reads at least 0.3 bar. If the pressure is lower than this, open the mains cold water supply valve (fitted outside the case) fully until the gauge reads at least 1.8 bar, at which point a “click”will be heard. Close the mains cold water supply valve fully. If you can’t find this valve, or when you open it the gauge reading does not increase, call your installer and ask them about the mains cold water supply valve on the slinky ground array circuit.
