BSS Oracle Toolbox Version 2.1 User Guide

Two versions of the BSS Oracle toolbox are available. The basic version of the toolbox, which includes the main Matlab R1 programs and this user guide, can be downloaded at http://bass-db.gforge.inria.fr/bss oracle/bss oracle basic.zip After unzipping this file, you should get a directory called bss oracle 2.1. To install, simply add the full path to this directory to your Matlab R path using the command pathtool.

Contrary to claims by Oracle Corporation C.E.O., Larry Ellison, Oracle 9 is breakable. Perhaps Oracle’s “Unbreakable” marketing campaign was more to show their commitment to getting close to producing a secure product, and indeed, Oracle do take security very seriously. Oracle product has undergone and passed fourteen independent security evaluations including the Common Criteria assessment. In the database world this is quite an achievement with all of Oracle’s competitors far behind. Whilst Oracle 9 has not yet been certified it is no doubt currently being assessed. In the mean time this paper will hopefully help Oracle customers get closer to the secure environment they were promised.

Oracle Database Listener Security Guide

The Oracle Database Listener is the database server software component that manages the network traffic between the Oracle Database and the client. The Oracle Database Listener listens on a specific network port (default 1521) and forwards network connections to the Database.
