Graphics: Navigation design Tutorial

These days there are almost no limits to what you can do with web graphics. The ubiquitous use of Flash has transformed the internet and today, web designers have to be half graphic designer and half multi-media expert. Of course, most web sites are still predominantly HTML based because they are easier to content manage. Flash is normally reserved for small animations within the page or for online advertising. Only specialist or niche sites tend to be completely created using Flash. This means that old web design favourites, such as animated GIFs, should still be around for a while yet. With this in mind, we have incorporated them into this month’s navigation design tutorial. We hope to demonstrate how distinctive design, coupled with simple animation, can turn the most basic navigation bar into something special.

Structural design with ArchiCAD, and its integration with structural software

A building’s architectural design and its physical structure are closely interrelated: on the one hand, the architectural design of the building defines the structure; on the other hand, the structural design of a building reflects the overall architectural design. As structure became a visual and aesthetic part of the design in modern architecture, structures must be as light as possible while maintaining complete integrity. Also, the structure must be optimized for performance and price.

From any angle, the 2007 Audi A4 sedan demands respect. The progressive, purposeful design begins with its distinctive single-frame grille and never stops. Design Guide for LXT901/907 Ethernet Interface Connection to Motorola MC68EN360 Controller

This application note describes a method for connecting the LXT901 or LXT907 Ethernet Interface Adapter to the Motorola MC68EN360 Quad Integrated Communications Controller (QUICC) with Ethernet capability. The QUICC/LXT901 combination makes designing routers, bridges, print servers and other, similar products simple and fast. The LXT901 and LXT907 devices have advanced features that make design and fabrication faster and cheaper than typical competitors’ products. These two devices meet all of the Motorola QUICC design requirements with minimal external circuitry needed to use the MC68EN360 features. Either of these devices gives the lowest cost, highest performance possible with the Motorola QUICC.

Learn to Design an Adobe Flash web page header

Adobe® Flash® is the most popular way to add animation and interactivity to web pages. When you work on a flash project, the source file that you save is a .fla. When you want to see how your project will look on a web page, you will ‘publish’ the file as an .swf file which is embedded into a .html file. An ‘object’ tag which contains the parameters for the flash ‘movie’ can be embedded into an html file with Dreamweaver® or using the Flash application itself. This lesson will be for the Windows operating system (Sorry Mac Users). So let us go through the process, step by step… Here are the images that I will work with. They’ve been created in Photoshop (see my web design tutorial). Note that most of them have transparent edges. To create this effect (In Photoshop), select and copy each element from a layer of the design and paste into a new canvas. Make sure that the background layer is turned off. Save as a .png file and select Interlace:None from the PNG Options.

A Guide for Motorola HCS12 Expanded Mode Bus-Design

The Motorola HCS12 family of micro-controllers was designed primarily for operation in Single-Chip mode. In Single-Chip mode all the peripherals are found either internally in the HCS12 silicon, or can be connected to the HCS12 through one of its serial interfaces like the SPI, SCI or IIC. In practice over 95% of HCS12 based designs use Single-Chip mode.
