Before you can use the UPS monitoring software program, you need to install the cable connecting the UPS system to the serial port on the computer. All new UPS systems have the serial communications port on the back panel, labeled RS-232C. The cable for most UPS units is made with two male DB-9 connectors. It connects between the female DB-9 connector on the UPS rear panel and any compatible serial port on the computer. Be sure the cable is shielded and is terminated on the shell of the connector. This section describes cables connecting the UPS to a serial port on your computer. Illustrator is a vector-based imaging program. Unlike PhotoShop, which deals in pixels (raster images), this one deals in lines and algorithms for various shapes. It functions by generating curved paths connected by modifiable anchor points. These anchors, with their handles, are ultimately editable and never “leave” the structure of the file.

Photoshop vs. PowerPoint: Which one should I use?
Photoshop and PowerPoint are both very flexible applications-each is capable of performing raster image manipulation as well as text and vector editing with varying degrees of success, reliability and ease. While Photoshop is the choice for making adjustments to your raster image’s file format, resolution, size, contrast, color balance, alignment and to crop or merge images together (image editing), PowerPoint is preferred for creating figures and doing image compositing and annotation because the text and vector based annotation will remain sharp. This is not the case for these vector-based elements in Photoshop- there is a loss in quality of text and vector objects when changing file formats to non-proprietary, pixel-based formats.

Flash is a program by Macromedia for creating interactive, animated online content. Animated simply means “to have movement” — Flash content does not have to be a cartoon. It is commonly used to mimic software interface elements such as scroll bars, drop-down menus, buttons, and navigational systems. The term “Flash” has also come to mean the actual files created using Macromedia’s program of the same name.
