Testing for Security in the Age of Ajax Programming

Testing for Security in the Age of Ajax Programming Bryan Sullivan ...Testing for Security in the Age of Ajax Programming Bryan Sullivan Ajax programming is one of the most exciting new technologies in recent history. Ajax (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) allows a web page to refresh a small portion of its data from a web server, rather than being forced to reload and redraw the entire page as in traditional web programming. Since they can make frequent, small updates, web applications written with Ajax programming can present user interfaces that are

Testing the Equivalence of Regular Languages

The minimal deterministic finite automaton is generally used to determine regular languages equality. Antimirov and Mosses proposed a rewrite system for deciding reg- ular expressions equivalence of which Almeida et al. presented an improved variant. Hopcroft and Karp proposed an almost linear algorithm for testing the equivalence of two deterministic finite automata that avoids minimisation. In this paper we improve the best-case running time, present an extension of this algorithm to non-deterministic finite automaton, and establish a relationship between this algorithm and the one proposed in Almeida et al.

UPS Monitor Software User’s Guide

Before you can use the UPS monitoring software program, you need to install the cable connecting the UPS system to the serial port on the computer. All new UPS systems have the serial communications port on the back panel, labeled RS-232C. The cable for most UPS units is made with two male DB-9 connectors. It connects between the female DB-9 connector on the UPS rear panel and any compatible serial port on the computer. Be sure the cable is shielded and is terminated on the shell of the connector. This section describes cables connecting the UPS to a serial port on your computer. See the next section, “Switch Contact Port Cabling,” for information on constructing a cable to use the port labeled “UPS Port” on the back of many Alpha Micro computers.

Testing Oracle 10g RAC Scalability on Dell PowerEdge Servers

When businesses start small and have little capital to invest, they tend to keep their computer systems simple, typically using a single database server and a storage array to support a database. However, as a business grows, this simple database configuration often cannot handle the increased workload. At this point, businesses typically upgrade their hardware by adding more CPUs and other required resources or they add servers to create a cluster. Increasing resources, or vertical scaling,g is like placing a temporary bandage on the system—it solves the current situation of increased workload and resource demand but does not address the possibility of future workload increase. Instead of adding more memory or CPUs to the existing configuration, organizations can add servers and configure them to function as a cluster to provide load balancing, workload distribution, and availability—a process known as horizontal scaling.
