Whether you’re restoring or retouching a photo or going after a creative effect, once you’ve seen how much freedom smart filters give you, you’ll be using them in your Photoshop work all the time. Photoshop CS2 introduced us to smart objects, and one of the goals the folks at Adobe had with smart objects was to one day give us the ability to add dynamic filters to images which were non-destructive, meaning they didn’t physically alter the image pixels in any way, much like how adjustment layers work in Photoshop.

Microsoft SQL Server has a reputation of being one of the easier database platforms to administer and manage. Oddly enough, however, when it comes to understanding what SQL Server is doing underneath the covers with respect to space, SQL Server actually isn’t as straightforward as some of the other database platforms. The ability to easily report database and transaction log space from a global perspective isn’t as simple or thorough as some administrators would like. Also,the sp_spaceused procedure used for object (and database) space doesn’t really tell the whole space picture for an object or database. And make no mistake, diagnosing fragmentation problems in a database requires a fairly skilled hand that knows how to not only interpret a number of different object fragmentation metrics, but also understands the environment and mechanics of the applications that use the database.

1. Interface
Besides being the most apparent change when you launch Photoshop CS3, the new interface builds on the strengths of Photoshops past. Part of the beauty of the new interface is that although it’s familiar, there are some important changes that make it more efficient. The Palette Well is gone, and the Workspace menu appears right in the Options Bar. The palettes can be collapsed to small icons, and if you press Shift+Tab to hide all the floating palettes, the palettes will reappear when you hover over the right side of the work area. This new interface is all about giving you a larger work area and from what I can tell, it takes the average user around 47 seconds to love this new interface
